This coat type means the dog will shed their under-layer (the dead hair) in order to allow them to regulate their body temperature. This tends to happen with the change in seasons. The shiny top-layer (top coat) is known as the guard coat. Sometimes shedding can be unpredictable with the added elements such as central heating and longer walks on colder days.
A de-shed treatment at the groomers is a wonderful way to remove the dead hair and ensure the dog is nice and comfortable. It also dramatically reduces the amount of hair left at home on your clothes and furniture
